About Me

With a distinct style of her own, Makeda Saggau-Sackey has emerged as a forerunner and fashion editrix of the Washington based website, The Glamazon Diaries. A native of Ghana, West Africa, Makeda's interest in fashion encompasses a unique blend of high style, lifestyle and street style. She offers a peek into the world of fashion from the birds-eye view of a Washingtonian and draws diverse readership with her casual, playful and intimate voice. Her keen eye for of-the-moment and underground designers, industry news and high profile interviews of fashion's power players keeps the Glamazon Diaries on the cutting edge. As a budding designer, Makeda designs clothing and accessories and plans to launch a full collection in the near future.

Favorite Designers: Giambatista Valli - Every piece of Valli I own is timeless. He understands how to make a woman feel beautiful and feminine in her own skin with the cut and style of his dresses. Donna Karan, she is quintessential New York. She designs for a woman, celebrating her strengths and masking her weaknesses with clothes that feel luxurious and take my breath away. Oscar de la Renta because my dream is to own one of his gowns. Alexander McQueen for his avant garde and ground breaking designs.

Vintage: 70's Kansai Yamamoto for the eleborate detailed jackets. He made David Bowie fabulous with his jackets and kimonos during his reign. Yves Saint Laurent is a recent obsession. I've been collecting vintage YSL via Ebay for his celebration of women. I am still on the lookout for one of his Le Smoking jackets, pants and safari jackets from the 80s. He really empowered women to dare to wear anything they wanted, especially pants.
